Starfish of the Week
Every week during my clinical internship I chose a student who had great behavior to be the "Starfish of the Week." A letter was sent home to the families to tell them about their students responsibilities as the starfish. On the Friday before their special week, they were given a "All About Me" poster to complete over the weekend and bring back to school on Monday with pictures and colorful illustrations. Students were also asked to bring in 3- 5 special items that they would like to share with the class to be displayed the whole week. Students acted as the teachers helper and line leader. The students presented their posters and items to the class during our morning meeting.

Meet Marley
In class we read the book Marley Goes To School by John Grogan. The book is about Marley's silly school adventure. The students had the opportunity to take him and the book home for two nights to have their own adventure. A letter was sent home to explain to the families who Marley is, what to write about, and to draw a picture to show how much fun they had with him!

Olaf's Kindness Journal
During my clinical internship, my students learned about positive character traits and the importance of being a good citizen. In class, we worked hard to treat others with respect and kindness and reflected on how our actions affect those around us. So in an effort to continue this positive behavior at home and in the community, Olaf visited my students homes for two nights to catch their acts of kindness! A letter was sent home to the families to talk about what they needed to do with loveable Olaf! Students wrote in Olaf's Kindness Journal about the different acts of kindness that he or she saw at home. Students shared their journal entry with their classmates during our morning meeting.

You Can't Catch Me!
In class we read the story "The Gingerbread Man" and talked about how the Ginergread Man tried to escape! A Gingerbread Man cutout was sent home along with a letter to talk about what we read in school and to work together to create a disguise for the Gingerbread Man so he won't be eaten! Students were told to be creative and to use any supplies they could think of. Take a look at our fabulous disguises!
